Frequently asked questions

Where can I find a game sheet?

Please click here and use the following format as your game sheet.

The Home Team (listed first) is responsible for inputting the game results on the league website by noon the following day.

The Home Team then retains the score sheet until completion of the season and will make this score sheet available to the Girls 'n Women and Sport office upon request.

The Visiting Team is responsible for confirming the score within 24 hours of receiving the automated prompt to do so.

How do I enter scores?

We recommend that you have at least 2 team members with administrator access. The website will allow up to three administrators.

If it says 'no game reports are outstanding for Team Name' then your account is up to date.

Please note: You will only see the changes in the statistics once both teams have entered and confirmed the results.

You are asked to enter the score within 24 hours of the game. You will receive email reminders everyday at noon if you have not yet entered the previous game's results online.

The game sheet no longer needs to be faxed in to the office; however, the signed hard copy must stay with the home team until the end of the season in case any discrepancies arise. In this case the office may contact you for a copy. Please use the game sheet GWS provides on the website under the FAQ tab and not the automated one the website creates.

What happens if the game is not done when the horn sounds for the end of the game?

If the game is not over at the sound of the horn. The team with the most points wins the set; however, if the score is tied then the next point wins the set. If the teams split the match 1-1, the third set will be played to 1 point. Teams should either rock-paper-scissors, flip a coin, or spin the ball (pin points to side) to choose serve, side, or receive.

Can my team use substitutes/add members to my team?

Yes. We ask that you add them to your Squad on the website.

Can men spike from the front row?

Unfortunately, men cannot spike from the front row. They can only spike from the back row, behind the 3m line.

Do we need to play a third set?

Only when the teams split 1-1.

In play-offs what does best 2/3 mean?

Best 2/3 means the first team to take 2 out of the possible 3 sets win the match. This means that there is no 3rd set if one team wins the first two sets. A 3rd set is a tie-breaker. If time permits, the 3rd set must be completed. If the horn sounds before the teams can start the 3rd set, teams should start the 3rd set and only play max to 1 point.

Why are playoff games only 35 minutes long?

Playoff games length changes due to the sun setting earlier in August. Players and staff need to be off the beach before it is dark.
